On May 4, 2011, the Texas House of Representatives gave final approval to Senate Bill 257 to authorize the Department of Motor Vehicles to create a Choose Life license plate. The state Senate had passed the same bill on March 16. Pro-life Gov. Rick Perry sign it into law on May 17.
The Choose Life plate is now available.
The Choose Life plates promote infant adoption as a compassionate alternative to abortion. The "Choose Life" message will gently but persuasively increase awareness, and the sales of the plate will raise funds for nonprofit organizations to provide services to pregnant women considering the loving option of adoption.
The Choose Life specialty license plate is on sale across the state for cars, light trucks, motorcycles, and mopeds! Become a moving billboard to promote infant adoption as a compassionate alternative to abortion.

The annual fee is $30. Of that $30 annual fee, $22 goes to the Office of the Attorney General of Texas to be distributed to qualified organizations that provide counseling and material assistance to pregnant women considering placing their unborn children for adoption, including pregnancy resource centers, maternity homes, and adoption agencies. Organizations that provide or promote abortion are not eligible to receive funds. The remaining $8 covers state and county administrative costs.
