In today’s Gospel, Jesus declares the hallmark of His ministry: “For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mk 10:45). The call to serve is the foundation of the proclamation of the Gospel to a broken and hurting world. To assist the Bishop and his priests in proclaiming the Gospel of healing service, God calls some men to be their collaborators in ordained ministry as deacons. Starting this coming December, the Diaconal Formation Office will begin accepting applications for the class of 2028, which will commence formation in January 2023. Men between the ages of 30 and 59 sensing God’s call to the permanent diaconate and their wives are invited to attend one of a series of upcoming inquiry sessions to be held in locations around the diocese. Dates and locations may be found in the bulletin and through a link on the parish website.
