This weekend is Catholic Charities Weekend in the Diocese of Austin. Catholic Charities of Central Texas works on behalf of Bishop Vásquez and the Catholic faithful as the social service arm of our diocese. Catholic Charities strives to eliminate poverty in our communities through six programs that provide wraparound services to families in need. Programs include Counseling Services, Disaster Response, Financial Stability, Immigration Legal Services, St. Gabriel’s Pregnancy and Parenting Program, and St. Michael’s Veteran Services. Labor Day is obviously not Monday, August 29. The church office and gift shop will be open that day.
Looking for an opportunity to be active in the church. Consider being a Children’s Liturgy of the Word Leader. On Sunday children are taken to the chapel and discuss the first reading and the Gospel. See the bulletin or contact the church office for more information.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) will begin a series of instructions on basic Catholic teachings. RCIA classes start on September 14 at 6:30 in the Conference Room. Take advantage of this opportunity for yourself or a friend or both. Please see the bulletin for more information.
