Announcements – February 27, 2011 / Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

After Homily:
We have been advertising the 2011 Parish Festival for several weeks now in our Bulletin, Bulletin Inserts, pulpit announcements and on our web-site. This annual festival is necessary to supplement our Sunday collections. The proceeds of the festival make up for the short-fall of the collections and are necessary to fund the many activities of our parish and community. In this week’s bulletin you have a letter from me asking for your support. We are in need of funds, no mater the size, gifts for the audible and silent auction, as well as for all the other areas of the festival. Contributions can be mailed to the church office or you can give to me. The Youth Area of the Festival also has an insert in this bulletin. They are in need of funds for the various children’s activities, prizes, games, etc. You can call the number on the insert or the church office.

The raffle is the largest fund raiser in the festival. Please take more tickets to sell and to buy. There are many great gift cards in this raffle.

After Communion:
This Sunday is the monthly Men’s Club Breakfast beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Come over and enjoy a delicious breakfast.

This weekend is our monthly collection of non-perishable food items for Caritas of Waco. Please be as generous as you can. If you forgot to bring your grocery items this weekend, you may bring them next weekend.

Attention all High School Seniors registered at St. Mary’s Parish – Applications for Knight of Columbus Council 1358 and JJ Kearns Assembly #1109 Scholarships are now available in the church office. Please turn your application in to the church office prior to due dates.

The Liturgy Committee will meet on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the Conference Room.

With Ash Wednesday coming soon, I want to encourage you to take a few minutes day, perhaps just five minutes, and use Five Minutes with the Word to grow closer to the Lord during Lent. During these forty days, there is a lot of grace with which the Lord wants to bless us, and a few minutes each day in prayer will make Holy Week and Easter much more meaningful for you and your family. The copies of these booklets are at each entrance of the Church. One per family, please.

Also, did you notice the new banner on the front of the church? In solidarity with over 160 cities nationwide, Pro-Life Waco has organized a 40 Days for Life vigil of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion. For more information on how to participate in this vigil, visit the parish website or the Pro-Life Waco website (or click on the link above). We’ll also have an flyer in the bulletin next week with information. Please join us in prayer and fasting to end abortion in our country.
