The 4th Annual Men’s Mass with Bishop Joe Vasquez will be on Saturday, July 21st at the Cathedral in Austin. If anyone is interested in riding the bus, please see the article in the bulletin for the details.
Next weekend we will be taking up a second collection for the Clerical Endowment Fund in the Diocese of Austin. This fund is very important in the education of young men for the priesthood. Additional information is on the insert in the bulletin. Please be as generous as you can.
St. Mary’s is in need of a Van Driver for the first Sunday of each month. This ministry involves picking up parishioners for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass and returning them to their homes after Mass. If you are able to help with this ministry, please call the church office for details.
What is an ACTS Retreat?
An ACTS weekend is a three-day Catholic lay retreat presented by fellow parishioners like you who are also past retreatants. It is intended for anyone who wants to develop a closer relationship with Christ. The purpose of the weekend is to instill in the retreatants a new or deeper relationship with the Lord and fellow parishioner through:
Adoration and daily prayer;
Community in one’s parish as a member of the body of Christ;
Theology by encouraging more study of our faith through God’s word; and to instill a virtue of
Service to our Lord, our parish, and to each other.
These weekend retreats are patterned after the description of the early church in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:42-47): breaking bread together, worshipping together, receiving instruction together, sharing in common, and reaching out in loving service. No two retreats are exactly alike. Each one is unique because of the individuality of each team that leads the retreat. The retreat weekend is a chance to relax and focus on your faith journey.
Representatives from both the Women’s ACTS and the Men’s ACTS are in the foyer of the church this weekend after each Mass to answer any question you might have regarding an ACTS Retreat and to assist you in registering for the fall ACTS Retreats.
