Through the sacrament of baptism, each person receives a "call" or vocation. and God calls all who are baptized to holiness and to serve. This call to holiness and service is lived out as a single, married, ordained or consecrated person in religious life.
Whenever a young man feels called to the priesthood or a young woman to consecrated religious life, it is appropriate for them to contact their pastor. His guidance will be extremely beneficial to them.

Called By Name Sunday is not only is an opportunity for us as individuals to be open to God’s calling in our lives. It is also a chance for us to allow God to call others through our invitation. Is there someone you know who may be called to the priesthood or religious life? Help us to encourage them by sharing their name and contact information. There are two ways to do so: online or by mail.
To share their information online, go to our website: godiscalling.me - there is also a QR code on the envelopes we have provided at Mass that you can scan with your phone’s camera.
Those whose names are provided will receive a communication from Bishop Vasquez and the Vocations Office with encouragement and resources to hear and respond to God’s call for their life - no matter what it is.
Thank you for your generous participation in Called By Name Sunday. With your help, this initiative will bear fruit for our diocese for generations to come.
This video was produced for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Committee on Vocations and Priestly Formation to invite young men to open their hearts to the call of the Catholic priesthood.
Imagine Sisters is a web and campus-based movement that aims to inspire the imaginations of young women to consider the beautiful call to consecrated life as a sister.
Prayer for Priestly Vocations
Loving and faithful God,
you promised that in every generation
you would provide shepherds for your flock.
We ask you to raise up men
who are generous in their service,
willing to offer their lives and all their gifts
for your glory and for the good of your people.
May our faith today be our legacy for the next generation.
We ask this in the name of Jesus
and through the Holy Spirit
who lives and reigns with you, now and forever.
Amen.
Prayer for Vocations
Father, you call each one
of us by name and ask us to follow you.
Bless your church by
raising up dedicated and
generous leaders from our
families and friends who
will serve your people as Sisters, Priests,
Brothers, Deacons, and Lay Ministers.
Inspire us as we grow to
know you, and open our hearts
to hear your call.
We ask this in Jesus name
Amen.
Prayer for Seminarians and Priests
Jesus, I thank you for your gift
of the priesthood to the Church.
I pray for all priests and seminarians today
especially ________________________.
May they hear your invitation to “follow me,”
in every aspect of their lives.
Bless them with love and joy
as they seek to know you more deeply.
Give them courage and zeal
as they serve you and your people.
Give them wisdom and trust
as they discern your will.
We ask this with confidence in you.
Amen.
Our Father…, Hail Mary…, Glory be…
